About Our Original Wall Art
Preetie Kohli hand-draws every piece of original wall art in Singapore's Tangled Monk collection at our Joo Chiat studio, then frames it in wood and ships it ready to hang. There are 50 works here, priced from S$295 to S$5,920. Each is the only one of its kind: you receive the artwork itself, never a print of it.
The surface changes from series to series. Raw ceramic tile, handmade paper, tiny paper tiles, canvas. What holds it all together is the slow, repeated line, and you can read where that habit began in our philosophy.
What's in Our Original Wall Art Collection
The range has three tiers. The smallest works are 28 x 28cm ceramic medallions, starting at S$295. A Soft Equation shows the format well: one round tile, worked in blue and black ink with a pen fine enough that the lines barely spread into the clay.
The middle tier is mostly paper. You'll find 34 x 34cm squares, long frames around 50 x 21cm and mosaics close to 47cm across, most of them between roughly S$1,000 and S$2,000. Then the canvases, up to 78 x 62cm.
All of it is artist-made wall art with a title and a short note from Preetie on its product page explaining what started it. When a piece sells, it's gone. We keep sold works visible anyway, so you can see how a series grew.
Wall Art Collections & Themes
There are nine named series. The fastest way to choose between them is by surface.
Ceramic. A Language of Blue sticks to blue and black linework on 28cm tiles, so the pieces sit happily next to one another. The Ethereal Quartet is four striped black-and-white medallions that work alone, as a pair, or as the full four. Tangled Blessings, the devotional group, spans ceramic and paper and includes Aabha, a festive Ganesha drawn onto a raw tile.
Paper. Each Rhythm in Six piece is six small paper tiles set in one long frame. The Many Within One packs many more into a squarer mosaic. Tangled Tranquility is the meditative group on handmade paper. The Khajuraho Series grew from Preetie's 2026 travels through Khajuraho, Panna and Orchha, its backgrounds sponged to mimic weathered temple walls.
Canvas. Riverbed Echoes draws on mornings by the Ganges near Rishikesh, ink layered over ink. Tides & Thickets, the newest series, is built entirely from dots and lines on black canvas.
What to Consider When Choosing a Piece
Start with the wall, not the artwork: measure it, then compare against the framed dimensions on each product page. A narrow wall or bookshelf ledge suits a single 28cm medallion. Above a console or sideboard, a Rhythm in Six frame covers the width without crowding the height. A living room's main wall can take a Riverbed Echoes canvas on its own.
If one small tile feels too quiet, group several. Hung two by two, The Ethereal Quartet reads as one larger work, often a better fit in a compact room than a single oversized canvas. For anyone hunting unique wall art in Singapore that won't turn up in a neighbour's flat, the real appeal is original artwork nobody else owns.
Materials, Sizing & Framing
If you're comparing framed wall art in Singapore, here is what you get, surface by surface.
| Surface | Series | Framing | Care |
|---|---|---|---|
| Raw, unglazed ceramic tile | A Language of Blue, The Ethereal Quartet, Tangled Blessings | Wood frame, no glass | Porous: dry cloth only, never soak, keep out of direct sun |
| Handmade paper | Tangled Tranquility, The Khajuraho Series, Tangled Blessings | Wood frame, behind glass | Away from sun and humidity; don't touch the surface |
| Acid-free mini paper tiles | Rhythm in Six, The Many Within One | Wood frame, behind glass | As for handmade paper |
| Canvas | Riverbed Echoes, Tides & Thickets | Wood frame, no glass | Dust lightly; no water or cleaning products |
Ink is the medium throughout, apart from Tides & Thickets, which uses fluorescent markers on black canvas.
A centre-slot hanger on the back of each frame sits on one nail or screw. Framed works travel packed for fragile transit; delivery times are on our Shipping & Delivery page, and the 15-day window for unhung pieces is in the Returns & Refund Policy.
If the piece you wanted has already sold, you can commission a bespoke piece drawn to your brief. If you'd rather see the linework in person first, the Joo Chiat studio welcomes by-appointment visits via WhatsApp.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tangled Monk's wall art made from?
Ink, hand-drawn on one of four surfaces: raw, unglazed ceramic tile; handmade paper; acid-free mini paper tiles; or canvas. The two Tides & Thickets works use fluorescent markers on black canvas instead. Every piece is framed in wood, and each product page names its exact medium.
Is the wall art hand-drawn or printed?
Hand-drawn wall art, every piece. Preetie Kohli draws each line herself, often with fine-tip pens, and nothing in the collection is a reproduction. A signed A7 certificate of authenticity on the back of each frame records the year, dimensions, and the work's story.
Is each artwork one of a kind?
Yes. Every product page confirms you get the original and the only copy. Even two works drawn in the same series, on the same day, still differ. Once an artwork sells, it's marked sold and can't be reordered, though we can offer a bespoke commission in a similar spirit.
Is the wall art framed and ready to hang?
Yes. Every artwork arrives framed in wood, with a centre-slot hanger on the back that fits a single nail, screw or picture hook. Paper works are framed behind glass for protection; ceramic and canvas pieces have no glass, so the surface texture stays visible.
What sizes are available?
Sizes range from 28 x 28cm up to 78 x 62cm. The most common formats are 28 x 28cm ceramic medallions and 34 x 34cm works on paper, with Rhythm in Six frames running long and narrow at about 50 to 55cm by 21cm. Exact framed dimensions are listed on each product page.
How much does original wall art in Singapore cost at Tangled Monk?
Prices run from S$295 for a ceramic medallion to S$5,920 for Song of the Tide, the largest canvas. Most works fall between S$1,000 and S$2,000. Prices are listed in SGD, and Singapore orders above S$200 ship free on standard delivery.
Does any wall art feature Ganesha or other sacred motifs?
Yes. Aabha and Leela Ganesha are both Ganesha pieces on ceramic tile in the Tangled Blessings series, and Anant Shakti brings together Lord Shiva's symbols on handmade paper. Each product page explains in Preetie's words what inspired that particular work so that you can choose with context.
Can I commission a custom wall art piece?
Yes, through the Bespoke page. You talk Preetie through the room and the idea first. Most commissions are finished within two to six weeks, and we'll send a quote once the brief is settled, based on scale, detail, and materials.
