About A Language of Blue
A Language of Blue is a series of five original ceramic medallions, each hand-drawn by Preetie Kohli in blue and black ink on a raw, unglazed tile at our Joo Chiat studio in Singapore. Every piece is framed in wood at 28 x 28cm, priced at S$295, and is the only one of its kind.
The titles share one idea: order, and the places it comes apart. It is the quietest way into the Wall Art collection.
What's in A Language of Blue
A Soft Equation repeats one motif into a three-way mirror. Unlearning Symmetry began with the trellises at Gardens by the Bay. Where Order Frays started on a Mumbai café floor, its pattern built line by line using the Zentangle® method. Quiet Consensus and Suspended Drift loosen the grid further, one settled and meditative, the other fluid and shape-shifting.
Why Blue on Raw Clay
Ink on unglazed ceramic absorbs the moment it lands. There is no lifting a line once it is drawn, so each tile records its own decisions. Keeping to one palette across the five lets the pieces sit side by side as a family, and pairs them naturally with the black-and-white medallions of The Ethereal Quartet.
Where A Language of Blue Works Best
A single medallion suits a narrow wall, a bookshelf ledge or the space beside a doorway. Two or three hung in a row, with a few centimetres between them, carry a hallway or the wall above a desk. Because every tile is the same size and palette, you can start with one and add another later without the group looking assembled.
