Art for everyday life — to be experienced, touched, and lived with

Born from the meditative and the intricate, each piece carries a story of stillness, emotion, and flow.

Created to bring calm and presence into everyday spaces — not just to be seen, but to be felt. Mindful art as a way of living, not just a thing to hang on a wall.

The Journey

Art has always been a quiet constant in my life.

While building a demanding career in finance, I returned to making art in Singapore as a way to slow down and reset.

During the 2008 Global Financial Crisis, painting and pottery became an anchor. In 2020, I rediscovered art through Zentangle®, where the measured, repetitive lines offered a sense of calm that resonated deeply.

What began as a daily ritual became Tangled Monk — a Singapore-based studio creating original wall art, bespoke artworks and handmade art translated onto objects designed to be lived with.

The Inspiration

My work is shaped by close observation of nature — especially the sea and floral forms. The sea influences my sense of movement, depth, and colour, while flowers draw me to structure, variation, and fine detail — where looking closely always reveals something new.

Each artwork begins with colour — with backgrounds built intuitively using inks, gouache, sprays, stains, or watercolours — followed by tangles: structured yet fluid patterns built through simple, repetitive strokes. The work evolves slowly and mindfully, often without a fixed outcome, and extends into functional forms across ceramic, wood, and textiles.

A curated selection of works that inspire and define my artistic journey

Framed painting of hand-painted pebble shapes in shades of deep blue, teal and soft yellow, each with a distinct textured pattern, on natural linen in a silver-gold frame — Tangled Monk original hand-drawn art

Song of the Tide

My largest work, created with care and intent, feels both timeless and personal. Inspired by the Himalayan foothills and shifting Ganges, it reflects transformation—like tides washing over river pebbles, its layers slowly reveal familiar emotions.
Framed hand-drawn artwork on handmade paper of an intricate trident and serpent motif in fine black linework over a warm orange and pink watercolour wash, gold frame with brown mat — Tangled Monk original hand-drawn art

Anant Shakti

A lifelong devotee of Lord Shiva, I’m drawn to his quiet power and free spirit. This Divinity Series piece brings together his symbols—trishul, damru, serpent, and Ganesha—as a personal tribute.
Symmetry of Silence

Symmetry of Silence

My first work on a black base made each line deliberate and absorbing. Created during Mindfulness Month, it evolved into a modular mosaic, allowing intuitive arrangement and personal interpretation.
Gajamukha Leela

Gajamukha Leela

Inspired by a childhood housewarming gift—three Ganeshas from 1990s Bombay—this piece reimagines their lost forms through memory. Each iteration of Ganesha returns to that feeling, refining a sense of comfort and presence.
