On a recent trip to Khajuraho, Panna and Orchha, I was captivated by the concentric ceiling art in temple halls — patterns that reminded me of Marasu, one of my favourite tangles, drawn from stillness as it circles outward. Each quadrant holds its own detail, yet fits into one large pattern, drawn for the centre of a ceiling, giving the impression of a conical arch without ever forming one.
The background is created with Ranger Inks, sponged on for the uneven texture of old temple walls, with the artwork in Sakura microns and Gelly Rolls — every line, intentional, in this original hand-drawn wall art piece inspired by Indian temple architecture..
