The Ganesha and sacred pieces in the range
Aug 08, 2026
Ten of the 48 wall pieces drawn at the Tangled Monk studio in Joo Chiat make up Tangled Blessings, the devotional series, from S$450 to S$1,650. It is the part of the catalogue with the most personal history behind it, and the pieces are easier to understand with that history than without. These are not commissions of religious images to order. Each one came out of something the artist was already carrying.
Gajamukha Leela
Drawn from a childhood memory: three Ganeshas given as a housewarming gift in 1990s Bombay, long since lost, redrawn from what the artist could still picture. It is 44 x 36 cm on handmade paper, S$1,250. Its companion piece, Radiant Vinayaka, is the same size and price.
Anant Shakti
A single work bringing together the trishul, the damru, the serpent and Ganesha. It comes out of a lifelong devotion to Shiva and reads as a tribute rather than an illustration — at S$1,650 it is the most expensive piece in the series.
The Trikaal Ganesha
The widest, at 51 x 27 cm, and the largest of the five devotional works on raw unglazed ceramic. S$1,450.
Choosing within the series
Five of the ten are on raw ceramic and four on handmade paper; Anant Shakti's page does not name a surface. The smaller ceramic works — Aabha, Leela Ganesha, Sookshma Vinayak and Tattva — run S$450 to S$550, the most affordable way into this part of the range. The paper works run from 34 x 34 cm up to Vighnaharta at 40 x 46 cm, where the line can get finer.
A related series
Four more works form The Khajuraho Series, S$1,150 to S$1,300, all 34 x 34 cm, drawn from temple and heritage forms rather than deities. Different subject, same register. Where the Blessings pieces are devotional, these are architectural — the same patient line applied to carved stone rather than to a deity. Both series are the work of one hand, at Tangled Monk Pte. Ltd., since 2025.
